Austin Bukenya is one of East Africa's literary giants. A dramatist, novelist, poet and eminent critic, he has taught language, literature and theatre arts at universities in Tanzania, Scotland, Germany, Kenya and Uganda. He was Director of the Performing and Creative Arts Centre at Kenyatta University in the mid-1990s, and was a founder member of the Department of Music, Dance and Drama at Makerere University in the early 1970s.
